RAP - This week I ran several Read Around the Planet point to point video conferences. This is such a worthwhile project. It's focus is the sharing of literature between classrooms. We had several connections across the states and even a few Canadian connections. This project is always with a hit with both teachers and students. There is so much to learned by just the connecting itself. It is much more than just the sharing of literature. As we share cultures and weather too. Our Texas kiddos always get a big kick out of seeing snow covered playgrounds and snow clothes.
3rd Grade Teacher Laptop Plan - In meeting with the third grade team this week they seemed eager and ready to put an academic plan in place to justify the dispersal of the laptop cart out amongst the team. I am not sure this is the best idea but if they can justify we (principal, AP, Campus Tech and myself) are going to let them try it.
Skills Tutor Training - The campus seemed so excited that I was going to offer this after school training but when it came right down to it it was not very well attended. This was discouraging. When the feed back form was filled out they noted it was just a busy time and even though the training was requested but not well attended they know the campus had good intentions for attending.
Presidents Project - meeting and planning with the teacher on the presidents project was very good. It reiterated in my mind the need to make sure I do this each time. It helps to give the correct focus and standards alignment to the project and not just "something fun" to do during "computer time".
